Persons Served: Provides vocational and developmental services to over 200 residents of Northern Virginia aged 22 and above with developmental disabilities, autism, cerebral palsy and physical disabilities.

History: Incorporated in 1972 to provide services to those adults whose disabilities precluded them from admission to a sheltered workshop. 

Mission Statement:

“It is the philosophy of Central Fairfax Services, Inc. that every person is a valued member of the community, worthy of respect and capable of contributing to society.

It is the mission of CFS to enable people with developmental disabilities to achieve greater self-sufficiency and independence. This shall be pursued by providing services that emphasize opportunities to learn habilitation skills. Services will honor the uniqueness of individuals and will be based upon the principles of accessibility, health, safety, meaningful relationships and maximum participation in decisions that affect their lives.

CFS will work proactively with organizations that enhance the quality of life for persons with developmental disabilities and will educate and inform the public about fulfilled lives for people with developmental disabilities.”
 

Services Provided: A day program providing developmental services, vocational training, sheltered workshop and supported employment. Services include speech therapy, rehabilitation engineering, physical therapy, nursing, occupational therapy, personal care (eating, changing, dressing) wheelchair maintenance, and behavior management.

All persons served have the opportunity to receive job training and to earn wages either in the sheltered  workshop or in jobs in the community. Individuals may also volunteer at local charities and learn to use community resources such as restaurants and libraries.
